Description

An online CPD certified seminar (40 hours total) about the causes of concrete deterioration, the ways of how to survey a structure, quantify the work and prepare an appropriate strategy for repair according to EN 1504. Includes case studies as when the cathodic protection is the best solution or whether a coating is recommended and covers the correct preparation and use of material. CPD certifications are provided to the participants.

 

Part 1 (6 hours)

  • Understanding and acknowledging the basic phenomena related to Reinforced Concrete damage and degradation. Relate damages to specific NDT measurements
  • Understanding and acknowledging EN 1504 under the framework of repair performance indicators.
  • Relating EN 1504 to life cycle cost analysis using probabilistic and risk analysis theories

  • The mechanical and physical characteristics of bonding
  • Understanding the chemistry of coatings
  • Selecting coating against carbonation and chloride ion ingress
  • Understanding the chemistry of hydrophobic impregnators

  • Compatibility of substrates and coatings
  • Understanding Breathability, vapour management and vapour blockers

Part 3 (10 hours)

  • Mechanical characteristics related to patch repair – Selection of repair material
  • Preparation of substrate and its role to bond strength
  • Parameters affecting repair and bonding of cold joints
  • Bonding enhancing materials and techniques
  • Compatibility of repair grouts and slurries

Part 4 (4 hours)

  • Selecting crack injection materials
  • Analysis and design of crack injection
  • Injection of fire damage concrete
  • Methods for the approval of crack repairs

Part 5 (6 hours)

  • Design of Anchorage systems

  • Failure modes of Anchorage systems
